January is National Glaucoma Awareness Month. As a home care agency for over two decades, A-1 Home Care is constantly surrounded by seniors and fully understands the problems that associate with Glaucoma. As a result, we wish to provide an overview on the condition and hopefully raise awareness for our readers.
Glaucoma happens when the eye fluid can’t circulate properly. The fluid builds up pressure within one or both your eye and affects the optic nerve, ultimately impairing the vision. However, poor fluid circulation is not the only cause for Glaucoma. Eye injuries, tumors, or other conditions can also cause Glaucoma to begin. Therefore, regular eye exams are highly recommended when you’ve reached the age of 40. Be aware that symptoms of glaucoma may not be obvious at first, because according to WebMD, central vision might not be blurred even though the side vision is beginning to do so.
Although symptoms cannot be reversed at this point, treatments are able to stop the progress of Glaucoma. So, we highly encourage you to visit your eye doctor to make sure your vision are good!
With impaired vision, seniors are more vulnerable to falls, leading to even more serious injuries. With a caregiver from A-1 Home Care, we ensure the health and safety of the seniors we care for, and we provide a peace of mind for loved ones. You can expect support around the home as part of our service, including meal preparation, housecleaning, incontinence care, hygiene management, medication reminder, errands, transportation, and more. Our caregivers also specialize in After Surgery Care, Arthritis Care, Parkinson’s Care, Brain Injury care, Post Stroke Care, Heart Attack Care, and more. If you and your loved ones are residing in Westwood, Santa Monica, Malibu, Long Beach, Glendale, Pasadena, San Marino, Whittier, Encino, Calabasas, and others areas in Los Angeles and Orange County, call us to find out more about what we have to offer!
